Overview:

The 170 started it all back in 1983. This version of the Xtra Link, Model 172, utilizes the 291-00 IR receiver, which has an improved range and interference rejection.

The 291-00 receives the IR signals from a remote, converts the signal to DC control signals and passes them to the RF/IR Injector where they mix with the RF television signal. This combined signal is carried over a standard coaxial cable. While at the other end, the RF/IR Coupler separates the signals and the DC control signal is sent to an infrared emitter that is placed directly on the IR window of any component you want to control. The complete 172 Xtra Link2 package includes the following:

• One 291-00 Infrared Receiver
• One Injector

• One 284M Dual IR emitter
